Boston Acoustics Vr 40 Manual
Strength:I heard these back in1995 by accident. I happened to walk into a room in the back of a Audio/Video store while they were being demonstrated to another customer. I never forgot the way they sounded.
Unfortunately that day I bought a pair of Klipsch Epic CF 2’s that we’re on sale and quite a bit cheeper. Fast forward to 2018. Still remembering how much I loved the VR 40’s I started my search.
My first Boston Acoustics loudspeaker was the A100 Series II, followed by the A150 Series II, T830 and finally T1000 which I still use to this day in my vintage system. My brother owned a pair of A40. All were (and are) very 'polite' with very even response overall. View and Download Boston Acoustics VR1 user manual online. Boston Acoustics Vr 40 Speakers
I found a pair! They are in exceptional condition and oh my God the sound!
I paid $400 including shipping from across the country. I would pay over $1000 and feel great about it. I know there are better sounding speakers out there but you can keep them. To me paired with a Carver A400 x amp They are perfect.
Great mids and very tight punchy base. Very mellow and smooth but the base will thump you in your chest. After losing the Klipsch to a house fire I’ve listened to a LOT of speakers over the years. I’m glad I decided to hunt for a pair of VR’s. From playing vinyl on my Pro Ject Debut Carbon Esprit to CD’s on an Onkyo 7030 to steaming FLAC files and Deezer these speakers sound great!
If you have the room and patience to find a well cared for pair I wouldn’t hesitate. Maybe one day I can trade up to a better more expensive pair of speakers.
But if that never happens I will more than happy with what I have now. Strength:I heard these back in1995 by accident. I upgraded these speakers with hifibuy's 1 year speaker trade up. I had boston vr-20s and had the option of upgrading to these and only paid about $700 in total for them. I think for $700 i got a great deal. These speakers are as good sounding speakers as i've heard in a while. I used to work at SoundAdvice in miami, and i've heard many a speaker.
I like the kefs as well, i think for jazz, classical, even latin jazz/salsa these speakers sound really nice. If you can find a pair on ebay/audiogon for a decent price pick them up, you won't be disappointed. I upgraded these speakers with hifibuy's 1 year speaker trade up. If you can find a pair on ebay/audiogon for a decent price pick them up, you won't be disappointed. When I started looked for new speakers I had three thousand budgeted and started by listening to some high end speakers. When I finally found a pair I really liked (over five thousand) I compared them to the new VR40s. To be honest, the 40s outperformed them and all the energy models hands down.
These are particularly fine for jazz and classical, producing one of the best and detailed soundstages for voice, drums, strings, and sax. These speakers were replaced with more AVis speakers, a shame because the newer models don't hold up to music as well as the VR40s and these perform better for home theater as well in my opinion (but wouldn't pass the bull@#$it THX ratings so they had to change it.These speakers have a very unique tweeter so if you have taken care of your ears the first time you hear it you will smile and realize these are different. The only other speakers which have the same components and are comparable cost over six thousand (the boston lynfields). I have had these speakers since 1996. I dont listen to them every day, but when i do listen they bring out the emotion of the music out of my old cd's collection like no other speakers i had the opportunity to try. The mid-range is sweet and so seducive that i listen to them hours at times when i do listen.
And they havent had a problem thus far.for home theater, they work flawlessly with other ba speakers. They are hard to be beaten with my setup.
See the associate products used below.highly recommonded. If u looking to spend under $2k for a pair of stereo speakers, then these sleepy boys can't be beaten. The new boston vrm floor standing speakers are at least $2k a pair.
Can't wait to compare them to my sweet vr40.associate electronics:moster cables all arounddenon avp8000denon pao8200/8300front left/right: ba vr40center: ba vr12surround: ba vrs prosubwoofer: ba vr2000cd player: sony xa3es (hook up: analog)dvd player: sony dvp-s330 (hook up: digital). This is one of the most underrated speakers that were on the market in the 90s. With the use of a digital sound meter and the naked ear, I compared these speakers with some of my audiophile friends' speakers (the brands mentioned above), and the frequency response was strong and consistent from 30 hz to 20 mhz unlike the others. Also, a fuller, warmer sound is emitted by these speakers than any other mainstream speaker line under $1500 that I could test.
These Boston Acoustics VR-40s sound more full than any current BA speaker models, and so I'm proud to own these babies for incredible home theatre sounds and for strictly stereo reproduction of the finest jazz and rock albums in history.
